Minecraft 1.21.11 now available (Vanilla, Spigot, PaperMC, Forge, NeoForge, Fabric)

This week, the Minecraft Java 1.21.11 update – also known as “Mounts of Mayhem” – is officially available for servers in all major variants: Vanilla, Spigot, PaperMC, and with mod compatibility through Forge, NeoForge, and Fabric. This version focuses heavily on mounted combat, introducing new mobs, a new two-style weapon, and new strategic mechanics around mobility and positioning.

A new version ready for servers

Minecraft 1.21.11 can now be deployed in Vanilla, but also with plugins through Spigot and PaperMC, allowing players to benefit from the new gameplay without losing access to protections, economy systems, minigames, claims, and more. On the modding side, Forge, NeoForge and Fabric are all compatible with 1.21.11, making it possible to build modded gameplay experiences based on the latest version.
You can now install all those on all our minecraft server hosting plans,

Mounts of Mayhem: mounted combat becomes a core mechanic

Mounts of Mayhem makes mounts and movement a central gameplay element. A new weapon – the Spear – arrives with two distinct attacks, while multiple new creatures change how players fight, travel, and explore. Speed, position, and mount type matter more than ever, both in PvE and multiplayer survival worlds.

The Nautilus: a new underwater mount

Nautilus mount mod minecraft 1.21.11The Nautilus is a new neutral aquatic mob that spawns in all ocean biomes. It swims freely and can perform a Dash attack when provoked, even targeting nearby Pufferfish. On land, it slowly suffocates. The Nautilus can be tamed and bred using a Pufferfish (or a Bucket of Pufferfish), and once tamed, it can be saddled, equipped with armor, and used as a mount.

A mounted Nautilus offers a dedicated inventory screen for managing saddle and armor, and has a Dash ability similar to camels: pressing the jump key triggers a powerful underwater boost. While riding it, players gain the “Breath of the Nautilus” status effect, which pauses oxygen consumption (without refilling the bar). This makes underwater exploration far easier, especially when searching ruins or shipwrecks. Nautilus Armor exists in several materials up to Netherite, making it a solid mount option for long ocean adventures.

Zombie Nautilus and coral variants

A new undead version also appears: the Zombie Nautilus, usually found with a Drowned rider wielding a Trident. It only becomes hostile when its rider is hostile, but makes underwater combat significantly more dangerous. A special “Coral Zombie Nautilus” variant spawns in Warm Oceans, bringing more visual diversity to deep-sea exploration.

The Parched: a new desert skeleton

Parched skeleton mod minecraft 1.21.11The Parched is a new desert skeleton variant that replaces some regular Skeleton spawns at light level 0. It does not burn in sunlight and follows similar spawn rules to Husks. Its main danger is its use of Arrows of Weakness: it applies Weakness to players while being immune to the effect itself. It fires more slowly than a normal Skeleton, similar to the Bogged, but its attacks can cripple players exploring the desert.

The Parched adds a significant difficulty spike in hot biomes, especially in survival or adventure servers. Since it can appear by day and weaken players before other mobs engage, preparing for desert travel becomes more strategic than before.

Camel Husk: undead cavalry in the desert

Camel Husk mount mod minecraft 1.21.11The Camel Husk is a new undead camel variant spawning only in deserts at light level 0. It spawns with two riders: a Husk wielding a Spear and a Parched with a bow, making it a dangerous mixed-range cavalry unit. Like other undead mobs, the Camel Husk does not burn in sunlight and does not spawn in caves.

Without riders, it behaves similarly to a normal Camel, though it cannot be bred. It can be healed with Rabbit Feet and becomes persistent when interacted with. For custom servers running raids, desert wars, or adventure content, the Camel Husk brings a unique encounter design: players must manage both the mount and two ranged/melee attackers at once.

The Spear: a new weapon designed for mounts

The Spear arrives as the main gameplay addition. It can be crafted in Wood, Stone, Copper, Iron, Gold, and Diamond, and upgraded to Netherite using a Smithing Table. Its unique mechanic is that it has a minimum range to deal damage: being too close to a target yields no hit. It also has a longer maximum reach compared to other weapons.

The Spear has two moves: “Jab” and “Charge.” The Jab is a quick thrust done with a short press of the main attack, causing low damage and knockback and hitting multiple enemies at once, with cooldowns based on material. The Charge is triggered by holding the secondary button: damage, knockback, and dismount potential depend on material, view angle, and the speed of both the attacker and the target. Mounted combat significantly boosts the Charge, especially at high speed.

Lunge: a new exclusive enchantment

The Spear has a unique enchantment called Lunge. When performing a Jab with Lunge, the player dashes horizontally in the direction of their aim. The effect consumes hunger and durability, and works only on land with at least 6 hunger points. The dash allows fast engagement, escape, or repositioning during fights. It does not work underwater or while flying with Elytra.

New graphical options

Minecraft 1.21.11 adds two new video settings: “Texture Filtering” and “Anisotropic Filtering,” offering sharper textures at distance or angled views. These options can have a performance impact, especially combined with higher mipmap levels, but improve clarity for builds, landscapes, and high-render-distance gameplay.

Conclusion

Minecraft 1.21.11 expands combat strategy by making mounts a core element of gameplay. With the Nautilus as a full underwater mount, the Parched and the Camel Husk reshaping desert combat, and the Spear offering new depth with Lunge and Charge, exploration becomes more dynamic and dangerous. The update is available today for Vanilla servers, plugin-based servers through Spigot and PaperMC, and modded environments using Forge, NeoForge, and Fabric.
